David,
Well, I just tried it and didn't get any seg faults. Yes, it's a 1920x1080 window, but when XFractint SDL 10/15 opens, it first gives me a small window (640x480?) in the middle of the screen. I press Shift- F10 to switch to my HD window size, but the enlarged window keeps the same location of the upper left of the XFractint window, leaving most of it off screen. So I have to drag it back up (for upper left corner of screen) to make the whole thing visible.
You have a video mode in fractint.cfg with a key code of SF10? You can set the default window size in sstools.ini. It is currently set for 800x600 (unless you changed what SF6 means). In your case, use the xfractint entries.
What would be the correct aspect ratio for 1920x1080? 0.56?
Define correct. Do we want square pixels?
You should get an option to select the video mode (window size) before the actual loading of the image starts. After you select one, you should see a garbled red screen with a warning about using a view window and needing to reset things when you are done. Pressing enter should load the image (slowly). It was rendered in disk video mode. But it doesn't even get to prompting me for a video mode. Just crashes with the error messages I mentioned earlier.
I see that the <DEL> screen isn't finding the current video mode like it should. I'll have to back out changes to see what happened. Jonathan
