You gotta be losing some performance with all the hardware/software translation in any emulation setup. You're absolutely right.
It may be that some people are pleased with the convenience of having Fractint available on their current Windows (and possibly only) computer, and this fact compensates for the program's decrease in speed. then it would in DOS/Win9X on a P3-933 for example?
