FOTD -- September 01, 2010 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Tuesday was rather busy here at Fractal Central, which left little time for a proper fractal search. But I did manage to find an interesting Julia set of a point on the edge of the infinitely-divided main stem of an almost-Mandelbrot set. The point is located in the East Valley of the large minibrot. I named the image "Julia Switching Yard". It reminds me of the network of tracks found in railroad switching yards. Then I rated the image at a 7. It's rather attractive, but nothing to get too excited over. The calculation time is 49 seconds -- brief enough to cause no one any impatience. And even this minor task may be avoided by viewing the finished image on the FOTD web site at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> With a temperature of 93F 34C, increased humidity and an increa- singly hazy sky, Tuesday proved to be too much of a good thing here at Fractal Central. The fractal cats' big excitement came when an acrobatic squirrel somehow got caught in the overhead utility lines outside the sunny window. The dynamic duo braved the hot sun to watch the ensnared squirrel struggle to free itself. Eventually the squirrel broke loose and went on its way to the nearest tree, while the cats retired to the cool kitchen floor. My day was normal. But plans for a FC web site are growing.
