I worked on that a lot years ago, couldn't really make it work. The closest I came was the "Slider_X" viddie which is a walk from the West head of the M_SET across the needle to the end, it is actually kinda cool. It is on the UFVP page.

I also tried approximate walks using a series of lines approximating the outline and rendering the Julia. A few of those are posted, most were not that good.
