Hey, thanks, Hal. Last time I tried any of Albrecht's formulas, Fractint would only crash. You're welcome!
Albrecht actually calculated these particular fractals in DOSBOX-X & asked me to host them on my server.
*However*, I just discovered that you don't need to do a "Disk Video Mode" for Fractint fractals that are a little larger than your screen. (My screen can't display 1600 x 1200) Well, my 4K display can. ;) I ran Fractint in DOSBOX-X at 1600 x 1200 -- which is larger than my display. The resultant DOSBOX-X window simply hung over the edge of my display.
Dosbox is what crashes when I try Fractint in it. I've tried the OVA from the Fractint site under VirtualBox. It just hangs, doing nothing. Somewhere around here I have either old OpenDOS or DOS 6.22 install disks. I could try that on a fresh virtual box.
If you drag the corner of a DOSBOX-X window that's *larger* than your display containing Fractint doing an *onscreen*, say, VESA 1600 x 1200, it scales/distorts the picture onscreen, but the saved file remains the size specified in Fractint by the <Del> key. Cool. I was initially trying to use Fractint's Disk Video Mode in DOSBOX-X, and got errors, so finding that DOSBOX-X's window is scalable (when using resolutions in FRACTINT.CFG that are *larger* than my display) was nice to discover.
Did I say that in an understandable way?
I think so. I've been doing most of my fractaling with XFractint or the alpha SDL versions of XFractint for Linux. I haven't tried any of Albrecht's formulas there. Little things like reloading saved images are sufficient for the SDL version to crash on me. It's otherwise excellent but still a work in progress.

Hey, thanks, Hal. Last time I tried any of Albrecht's formulas, Fractint would only crash.
Really nice, the first image. 'Tis amazing what Fractint can handle in the way of complex math!
Second image is nice, looked a bit flat to me. One of the nice features of Albrecht's formulas is how they often at a seeming-third dimension to Fractint's usual flat looking images.
The third image is cute. I could picture it as a splash screen for Fractint, which seems to be the intent. :)
