Todays image [calculated with "kolano" of DOSBOX+FRACTINT] needs almost an hour, 1280/1024, compared to 9 min with XP dos and 3 min with a bootstick [running 'native' DOS running directly on the 'bare' machine.] Thanks for those calculation time comparisons, Albrecht!
Am I correct in assuming that the "XP dos" above is the DOS provided within/installed with WinXP? <===<< Also, what was the "Idle sensitivity" setting of your Fractint 'shortcut's Properties when you calculated the image with WinXP DOS? <===<< Right click: Fractint.exe's 'shortcut' > Properties > Misc tab > Idle sensitivity I have two Fractint.exe 'shortcuts': One has "Idle sensitivity" set to "Low" to get DOS Fractint to use 100% of the WinXP CPU; The other has "Idle sensitivity" "High" to get DOS Fractint to use ~50% of the WinXP CPU. What was Fractint.exe's "Idle sensitivity" when it took 9 min to calc. your image in WinXP DOS? <===< Note: The 'shortcuts' I'm referring to above are the ones that are automatically generated the first time that a DOS program is run. I am running it on my PC on WindowsXP and it runs perfectly, full-screen, in SF10 or any of the video modes I've tried so far. Thank You from me too. Now I can run hundreds of 1600/1200 images again although the Nvidia card does not support it as it is not available from my 1900/1080 flatscreen TV. Fullscreen! The speed is not so good, but maybe improved using the config file. Todays image needs almost an hour, 1280/1024, compared to 9 min with XP dos and 3 min with a bootstick, which is still the simplest and fastest solution. Albrecht
