FOTD -- May 30, 2004 (Rating 5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image reminds me of one of those probably fictional hermits who sits in total isolation on a mountain top, meditating on the mysteries of existence and dispensing wisdom to any with the fortitude to struggle all the way to the top of the mountain to receive it. I have never heard how the hermit could be expected to survive without assistance on the exposed mountain top for the 20 or 30 years it takes for him to reach his enlightened state. I guess it's a miracle. I have named today's image "Midget on the Mount" and rated it at a 5. The unexceptional coloring brings down the rating. If I had put a little more work into the coloring, the image could have rated a 6. But all is not lost. With a render time of only 2 minutes, the image is a fast one. And that speed boosts the overall value to a respectable 239. The parent fractal is a close relative of yesterday's parent, with just a bit more 'i' added. I must experiment more along this line. Complex exponents do interesting things to fractals. As always, today's image is available for download on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> The weather was nearly perfect here at Fractal Central on Saturday. The dynamic cats took full advantage of the perfection by spending the entire afternoon by the holly trees at the bottom of the yard, thoroughly enjoying the warm sun and temperature of 73F 23C. Even the noisy cicadas failed to disturb their repose. When the sun went down and the cicadas stopped singing, the dynamic duo came inside for their treat of tuna. Today is starting nearly the same, but it's unlikely that the duo can have two perfect days in a row. As for me, I'm going to trim a small plot of overgrown grass, and then settle down to ponder the mysteries of the universe. When I finish pondering, I'll take a trip to fractal land. If I find anything of worth there, it will appear as tomorrow's FOTD. Until then, take care, and one mystery leads to another.
