FOTD -- October 17, 2014 (Rating A-7,M-5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: When I saw today's finished image I was reminded of a nearby fruit stand run by a local farmer. I named the image "Farmer's Market" accordingly. Actually, the image lies in the parent fractal that results when 10.5 parts of Z^(-1.1) are combined with 1.2 parts of Z^(-5.5) on each iteration before (1/C) is added. This parent is a notable fractal by itself -- a grossly oversized circular island in the middle of an infinite ocean with three large buds arranged symmetrically around its perimeter. Today's scene lies in the valley leading to a smaller, irregularly shaped bud on the eastern shore line of the parent. The art rates a 7. We have seen better quite often. The math rates a mediocre 5. The math trick is over a decade old. The calculation time of 2-3/4 minutes is near FOTD average. To do better than average, try the web sites.
