FOTD -- April 08, 2009 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: The parent fractal of today's image came about when I subtracted an unlikely 14.55 parts of Z^(0.666) from an equally unlikely 14.55 parts of Z^(0.6) and added straight C, which created a grossly oversized thing that is better seen than described. Today's scene is located on the northern seacoast of a bud in a bud on the negative X-axis of this oversized parent. I named the image "Silver Barrels" for no reason except that the name sounds a bit 'alternative' and there is a lot of silver in the image. The rating of an 8 shows that I consider the image rather good, but also that I put too little coloring effort into the image to award myself a 1/2 point coloring bonus. The curious parent fractal seems very interesting. It may be the source of several more FOTD images in the near future. The calculation time of 3 minutes will pass like lightning for the fanatical fractal fan. It will pass like a space shuttle in orbit for the everyday fractal fan. For the casually interested, the finished image is posted on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> But don't look at too many fractals there. The next thing you know you'll be an everyday fractal fan, and then, without warning, you'll be a fanatical fan. It happened to me! With a temperature of 41F 5C, blustery winds and lumpy gray clouds, Tuesday was anything but spring-like here at Fractal Central. The fractal cats stopped waiting for the sun when a half-hour passed with no sun. They spent the next hour asking for and finally getting an extra treat. My day was once again average. The next FOTD is due in 24 hours. Odds are that it will appear on schedule. Until then, take care, and what is everyone so concerned about nowadays?
