. My Alienware has Athlon 64 dualcore, GeForce 8600, it is about 4 years old, WinXP Media. And it runs fractint screamin' demon fast - all i do is click on the file. My other system is a pig. I think it is hardware, NOT WinXP itself - this proves it. For running animations (thousands of images, 24/7 for long periods), I boot up with a DOS boot CD and use a FAT partition on the HD - works fine. This may be a good option for all you with modern systems also. .
