Hi again, Paul- what a pain I must be!! I have looked right at the root of my Fractint program, as well as in the sub folders- I do not find a makefcfg.exe file . . .   The program I am using is Fractint-20.04p04  I do not have any files hidden- I am viewing all . . .  Sheeeesh! I get to ONE stage, then crap out again!

Any idea why that isn't there?? I DO see it in the older program I had . ..  Can I run that and it will work for this machine? Does it need to be at the root of the Fractint program? Very odd, but leave it to me!!

Thanks again!

First make a backup copy of the FRACTINT.CFG file, which is located in
your FractInt directory path. Then just double click the MAKEFCFG.EXE
program. It should only take a second to run.

It will rename the existing FRACTINT.CFG file to FRACTCFG.OLD before it
tries to read your VESA Video BIOS. Then it will write a new file that
will have only the 256 color modes starting with the F2 Key.

If you want to have more video mode selections available to try out
within FractInt, then run the same DOS program, but from the Run dialog
box using the following:

MAKEFCFG.EXE 16 true overwrite

In my opinion, it is much better than saving the GIF images. They take
up less space, can easily be loaded again for rendering purposes, and
may be used by more than one fractal program.
