FOTD -- June 22, 2012 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: We're out of the doldrums, and more worthy images will soon be coming. Today's effort, which rates an 8, is hopefully a hint of things to come. The image comes from the same parent fractal as yesterday's, which vaguely resembles a Mandelbrot set. But today we check the southwestern side of the parent, in an area that would be East Valley if the parent were a true M-set. Hidden deep in a tiny area of chaos in this pseudoEast-Valley we find today's scene. I named the image "Stars in the Night" when I imagined the energies of the cosmos swirling through it. The calculation time of 15 seconds is one of the fastest. But it is still necessary to set up and run the parameter file before enjoying the speed. The image may be viewed on the official FOTD web site at: <http://www.crosscanpuzzles.com/Archives.html> without the need to run the parameter file. A high-definition rendering is available at: <http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/jim_muths_fotd.html> The original, now classic, FOTD web site with all the past images and discussions is online at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> Another warm, muggy day prevailed here at Fractal Central today, with a mix of sunny and cloudy periods. The temperature reached 88F 31C by 1:00pm, but a light thunder-shower moved in shortly after that, and by 3:00pm the temperature was down to 75F 24C. The fractal cats, who never get outside, complained in the morning, but settled for an extra treat of tuna. When it cooled down, they never noticed the difference. The humans kept their cool, which is always the best way to pass a day. The next FOTD will be posted any time after 24 hours from now. Until whenever, take care, and those who look to the bright side of a bad situation should be sure it's not darkness in disguise that they find.
