Hi, Qte Jim: Myself, I wonder what all the excitement over Fractint's demise is about. I have never lost the awe and wonder that came and still does come with every new image. All of my present-day images are not located in the Mandelbrot set, the fractal that brought the first fractal excitement, but most are created by a small group of simple, short formulas. . One thing I have never been tempted to do is write one of those mini-program formulas with hundreds of lines, which in the end draws just another complex fractal image. I am more concerned with the things complex numbers do on their own, without human intervention.unqte Of course you´re right, Jim, from your point of view. Also for me fractals are a big mystery, which possibly never can be fully explained on our level of existence. Maybe to understand we will have to go to the level of elementary particles, if ever. Imagine that everything is one big "fractal" unity and on this level there are no distances between systems... To be honest, how many users are able to produce own images with your sophisticated formulas? The multifractal "mini-program" to use your expression is capable of the same complexity even with a single formula. To prove this I have included two pars using one formula only. Also, of course, it creates images that in NO other way can be obtained by adding several complexities to one that supersedes the single ones. For me fractals are part of my leizure time and should be fun to play with. It´s even possible to just take any five numbers, like a blind monkey - see what comes out and zoom in. You will get an absolutely unique image within minutes.
