No over-amped car stereos booming down the street - so there were a lot fewer people with hearing losses running around. No drive-by shootings. If someone broke into your house and you killed them while defending yourself, no second-guessing from the dead criminal's lawyers. Since few people could read, you had to actually remember things (instead of look them up on the internet like people do now). They had beer and wine and mead to provide alcohol, and they pretty much drank one or the other of those three all the time since that was the only way to make typical village water safe to drink back then ...
