Phoenix Time! There is a tiny update, back compatible as always. If the input is zero it uses P1 like Magnet and Lambda. It has gained much complexity and is fast enough, only some seconds, for the "Monkey" game. Every value after the P1 dots will supply an image - so like Magnet - special sequences will get special results. In the featured image I used "contra pointed" values which has the effect that there is no similarity between left and right. Phoenix however uses the same shape for both parts. Watch and dig it. Fractint under VMware XP32 - David W. Riccio

Maybe you can help being an expert on the subject. XP32 VM new installed with Win7 host and works perfectly, even networking. Fractint is on a bootstick which is accessable for file management. How can I start Fractint, apparently it is unable to use network addresses ? Tried several sstools settings but no luck. For XP I use 1280/1024 reso with software speed up, so it should be available as vesa mode ? Thanks for any help. Albrecht

. the next batch of zooms from Albrecht are posted: http://www.fractal-animation.net/2_13_2015.zip 9 files, about 1.5MEG . Why use the tessie method for rendering? It is slower and actually less accurate than the passes=g option! Essentially, it sucks. The only redeeming quality is that it looks cool when working; I actually used it in an animation some years ago. I always use passes=1. If your gonna do something do it right. Slower, but most accurate. And these complex fractal formula have so much intricate detail that is otherwise lost. . Enjoy! JoTz .

This is the last "mate" for the Bees. But today it´s not a mate bcause they are incompatible, mostly the Newton part is completely invisible. In such a case I use my Border System - never have tried to explain it sofar. It means that predefined "z" values are used for a certain channel.It can be done for each of the 5 channels separately as usual and can be used in two directions - up or down (backwards). If that is done with the outside channel it is actually placed inside - that´s what I have done today. Sounds complicated? It is- to set up and to calculate. Using the ultra fast pure dos bootstick more then half an hour, means several hours with XP Dos. Not a pretty image but interesting indeed. To get some more clarity I compressed the Newton part. FOTD -- February 09, 2015 (Rating A-6,M-7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Perhaps we should rename the FOTD the FOTM -- "Fractal of the Month". It's been a couple weeks since the last image appeared. But despite appearances I am still searching for fractals in between doing other things such as drawing by hand the other-worldly surreal landscapes I often try to capture in fractal images. Today's image is an odd-plane scene in Seahorse Valley of the Mandelbrot set. I chose it as today's FOTD because of the prominent spiral that changes direction as it crosses the valley. As is usually the case in these odd-plane images, some stretching and skewing was needed to bring the scene to recognizable proportions. The rather poetic name, "The Reluctant Fairy", has nothing to do with the image. It simply came to mind when I shut off my rational thinking, something FL claims I often do. The art rates a nominal 6 because of the not very exceptional coloring; the math rates a 7 because of the curious two-way spiral. The calculation time of 4-1/2 minutes might be a little more than the image is worth. The fractal cats, who neither walk outdoors nor drive anywhere, were unconcerned. The fractal humans passed the day indoors, avoiding the outside weather. I haven't the foggiest idea when the next FOTD (FOTM) might appear, but I have a good feeling it will eventually show up. Until whenever, take care, and spiritual bankruptcy goes far deeper than simply not believing in God.
