Hi, I was surfing and discovered a great site for Adults: http://www.HappyHug.com This is a new site for adults. They are operating since 9 december 2002. It looks good to me!! Probably by the most obvious... joining the group. ;-} Wonder if they went through the whole list of available groups under the following: http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/ Later, P.N.L. ------------------------------------------------- http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/PNL_Fractals.html http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/

Is spam software now joining groups, sending back the confirmation message, sending the spam, and then unsubscribing? Tim should be able to tell by his admin interface. If the spammers have gotten this sophisticated, then I think the subscription policy should be changed to require approval of new subscriptions. Its not like there are thousands of legitimate people wanting to subscribe to this list on even a yearly basis, so that should be manageable. -- "The Direct3D Graphics Pipeline"-- code samples, sample chapter, FAQ: <http://www.xmission.com/~legalize/book/> izfree: Open source tools for Windows Installer <http://izfree.sourceforge.net>

Yes, except not unsubscribing. I unsubscribed the spam email by hand.

I agree, except that I see no need to panic because ONE spam message got through in the last year or two of the list. But if I did approve subscriptions, how would I know an email was a spam email? The only way would be for me to sent an email that required a human response. They are discussing this on the xmission list admin list. Apparently many lists at xmission were spammed. However one list admin said that his list is not published, and he did not get the spam. I could do the same. That would mean that if you go to mailman.xmission.com you would not see our lists mentioned. There is probably little harm in this, because I would think virtually all list members come from one of the fractint websites, not from browsing xmission's lists. Tim

I have an unpublished list as well and I did not get spammed.

We should fix the internal documentation.

No! You've contributed some useful code that I've needed for a number of years. We are pretty close to having it running correctly, although I don't believe my latest try will work. Jonathan

dear Jonathan, although i'm sure that you know it was just a joke, it warms one's heart anyway :o) i'm just helpless and hopeless about how long it takes and still not running.. i'm considering looking for the Tim's videocard somewhere around to test the things directly.. not "by-the-phone"..

but now, it has come quite late.. charlie ______________________________________________________________________ Reklama: Anděl 2002-12.udílení výročních cen APH. 20.března 2003 od 19.30 v T-Mobile Aréně a od 20.00 na TV Nova. http://www.aph.cz

Just so I understand, do you mean you found us because you were already familiar with xmission and found us in the list of mail groups at mailman.xmission.com? If so I'm surprised but glad to know. I would have thought that people found us through the various web pages. (If the instructions are out of date we need to update them. Perhaps some still refer to majordomo@xmission.comn.) In any case, this is an academic conversation, because just one or two spam messages have ever gotten through to the list (though many are sent and bounce) so there is no need to not keep our list published with Xmission's other lists. no, i know fractint for a few years now, and i knew there is a list for it, but when i decided to join in, i've had hard time a bit.. figuring out the right address amongst those that can be found.. and, from time to time, when i wan't to see the archive without looking for the direct link, then i browse xmission.. but that's not a reason serious enough.. charlie ______________________________________________________________________ Reklama: J.Nicholson v nove horke komedii O Schmidtovi.
