Xfractint compiler optimizations
Tim, Did you know that the Xfractint Make file does not have any compiler optimizations set? Setting -O2 works wonders. The down side is that it breaks the assembler mandelbrot code. I'll have to look into that. We also don't set any CPU specific optimizations. This is probably a good thing, but it would also increase the execution speed. Duh! I've decided to start seriously working on dumping my Windows environments. I'm presently looking into dosemu. Although, if I can't get that to work correctly, I'll set up a boot to DOS instead of to the GUI so I can still work with Fractint. The major problem I have is that I'll need to purchase a new external DSL modem (a Cisco 673 or 678?). I have an internal PCI DSL modem at present, which isn't supported by Linux. Jonathan
