That depends on whether you view a formula as a mathematical equation, or an expression of an algorithm in source code. The former doesn't seem like it would be protected, and the latter does. People use the same argument to suggest that parameter files aren't copyrightable, either; I don't agree with them. Of course, IANAL. Damien M.
