Could the original iteration values of pixels be recovered from a True Color Fractint fractal image file at a later time by appending the six values and maxiter that generated the color triplets in an extension block appended to the image file?
This would be ideal (storing the iterations as well as the colors). How I would implement it: encode the iterations as a grayscale PNG image and insert that image as an extension chunk. Presumably you wouldn't always want this (it probably doubles the size of the image), so there would be some sort of optoin to turn it on and off. -- "The Direct3D Graphics Pipeline" -- DirectX 9 draft available for download <http://www.xmission.com/~legalize/book/download/index.html> Legalize Adulthood! <http://blogs.xmission.com/legalize/>
