ForImmediate Release Contact: City Art Director Joel Long: joeltlong@yahoo.com City ArtPresents Katharine Coles, Bill Coles, and Joan Coles Salt Lake Public Library Main Branch 210 East 400 South Salt Lake City UT 84111 Wednesday April 15th 7:00—9:00 P.M.Katharine Coles, Bill Coles, and Joan Coles will read from theirworks Wednesday April 15h at the Salt Lake Public Library at 7:00 P.M. in thefourth floor conference room.  Katharine Coles’ fifth poetrycollection, The Earth Is Not Flat (Red Hen 2013), was written under theauspices of the National Science Foundation’s Antarctic Artists and WritersProgram; ten poems from the book, translated into German by Klaus Martens,appeared in the summer 2014 issue of the journal Matrix; she is currently beingtranslated into Spanish.  Her sixth collection, Flight, is due outin 2016.  A professor at the University of Utah, she served from 2006 to2012 as Utah Poet Laureate and in 2009 and 2010 as the inaugural director ofthe Poetry Foundation’s Harriet Monroe Poetry Institute.  She has receivedgrants and awards from the NEA, the NEH and the Guggenheim Foundation.  Bill Coles is a long-time professor of Mathematics at theUniversity of Utah.  His prose hasappeared in Catalyst among other publications. He has worked for years with Writers@Work from whichhe receive the Advocate Award in 2004.  Joan Coles has published poetry in Tailwinds, Weber Studies, andCity Art Journal. She retired as a clinical psychologist at Valley MentalHealth Center.  For many years, she hasserved on the board of Writers@Work where shealso received the Advocate Award in 2004.  Most featuredreadings are followed by an open reading.  Theevent is free and open to the public. City Art is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake City ArtsCouncil, Zoo, Arts, and Parks, X-mission, and audience donations.     Joel Long
