Writers Lynn Kilpatrick and JoelLong will present their work on February 3rd at the Salt Lake City PublicLibrary at 7:00 P.M. as part of the City Art Reading Series. LynnKilpatrick’s essays have appeared in CreativeNonfiction, Brevity, Ninth Letter, and Ocean State Review. Hercollection of short stories, In the House, was published by FC2. Sheearned her PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Utah, and she teachesat Salt Lake Community College. Joel Long’s book Winged Insects won the White Pine PressPoetry Prize. His books Lessons in Disappearance and Knowing Time by Light were published byBlaine Creek Press in 2010. Hischapbooks, Chopin’s Preludes and Saffron Beneath Every Frost werepublished from Elik Press. His poemshave appeared in Interim, Gulf Coast, Rhino, Bitter Oleander, Crab Orchard Review, Bellingham Review, Sou'wester,Prairie Schooner, Willow Springs, ThePinch, Quarterly West, and SeattleReview and anthologized in AmericanPoetry: the Next Generation, EssentialLove, Fresh Water, and I Go to the Ruined Place: Contemporary Poems in Defense ofGlobal Human Rights. City Art islongest running literary arts series in Salt Lake. We present authors of allgenres as well as artists and musicians on the first three Wednesdays of eachmonth at the Main Public Library from September to May. We feature both localas well as nationally and internationally acclaimed writers. Most featuredreadings are followed by an open reading.
