Joel Long and Dave Hall present Knowing Time by Light Start: Wed, 06/09/2010 - 7:00pmPoet Joel Long and painter Dave Hall present their new work, Knowing Time by Light. Joel Long, an English teacher at Rowland Hall and a recipient of a master's degree in creative writing from the University of Utah, and Dave Hall, a landscape artist and former Rowland Hall teacher who left teaching to paint, have come together to create a unique look at how poetry and painting inform one another. Knowing Time By Light is Long's second book of poetry and the inspiration behind the show, Seven Poems and Seven Paintings, a collaboration between Long and Hall. Long will read from a selection of work based on Hall’s paintings and featured in his new book, which will be available at the event. Long’s poetry has appeared in numerous anthologies, and his book Winged Insects won the White Pine Press Poetry Prize. He received the 2009 Mayor’s Artist Award for Literary Arts. Hall’s tonalist landscapes hang locally at Phillips Gallery in Salt Lake and Meyer Gallery in Park City. The poet and artist have roots in the Missouri River country of southwest Montana – an area that has inspired both. Joel Long
