On Sunday, January 15th at 7 PM, please join us at The Mandate Press (1077 S. Main Street, Salt Lake City) for an evening of short readings by prominent and emerging Utah poets and writers as part of the national post-election Writers Resist movement to rekindle our citizens’ commitment to compassion, equality, free speech, and social justice. Writers Resist is a national network of writers working with PEN America to defend the ideals of a free, just, and compassionate democratic society. A $5-$15 donation is suggested at the door, though no one will be turned away. Books and broadsides will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the Utah Writers Resist event will go to the ACLU, which is devoted to preserving the civil liberties of all Americans.Featured writers at the Utah Writers Resist reading include: Will Bagley, Lisa Bickmore, Scott Carrier, Kate Coles, Nic Contreras, Craig Dworkin, Kimberly Johnson, Michael McLane, Chad Nielsen, Lance Olsen, Jose Soto, Danielle Susi, Michael Mejia, Jennifer Tonge, RJ Walker and more.
