City Art Presents Sara Caldiero-Oertli and Derek Henderson

Salt Lake Public Library Main Branch
210 East 400 South
Salt Lake City UT 84111

Wednesday January 13th 7:00—9:00 P.M.

Poets Sara Caldiero-Oertli and Derek Henderson will present their work on  January 13th at the Salt Lake City Public Library at 7:00 P.M. as part of the City Art Reading Series.

Sara Caldiero-Oertli was born in New York and migrated to Utah to grow up. Her proximity to wilderness has played a major roll in inspiring her to teach, write and perform. She is an aspiring book artist but most of her time is spent making and teaching poetry.  Her work is centered on the body and understanding language. She enjoys bringing poetry to desert adventurers and drifters on the street. Her most recent publication, "Snatch 'N' Sniff" is available at Ken Sanders Rare Books.

Derek Henderson is the author of two previous collections, Inconsequentia (with Derek Pollard), and Thus &, an Erasure of the Sonnets of Ted Berrigan, sections of which appear in the Anthology of Appropriation Literature. His poems have been published in journals such as Fence, Volt, Witness, Bombay Gin, and The Colorado Review. He currently teaches English at the Walden School of Liberal Arts in Provo, UT.

City Art is longest running literary arts series in Salt Lake. We present authors of all genres as well as artists and musicians on the first three Wednesdays of each month at the Main Public Library from September to May. We feature both local as well as nationally and internationally acclaimed writers.

Most featured readings are followed by an open reading. City Art is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Catalyst, the Salt Lake City Public Library, Xmission, and the Zoo, Arts, and Park Fund.

The event is free and open to the public.  City Art is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Zoo, Arts, and Parks, X-mission, and audience donations.
