For Immediate Release Contact: City Art Director Joel Long: joeltlong@yahoo.com Writers Michael Palmer and Andy Hoffman will read with Musician Tulley Cathey Salt Lake Public Library Main Branch 210 East 400 South Salt Lake City UT 84111 Wednseday March 10 7:00-- 9:00 p.m. Writers Michael Palmer and Andy Hoffman will read from their work on Wednesday March 10 at the Salt Lake Public Library Main Branch at 7:00 P.M. as part of the City Art Reading Series. Guitarist Tulley Cathey will accompany Hoffman. Michael Palmer is a prose writer living in Salt Lake City. He finished his MFA at the University of Utah in 2009. His essay "Dark Blue Biology" won "Best Essay" in the 2009 Utah Arts Council writing competition. His work has appeared in Dialogue, Brevity, Leaf Garden and other journals Andy Hoffmann's work has appeared in over thirty national literary journals, and he has won awards from the Utah Arts Council for the novel, the short story, and creative nonfiction. His collection Five Stories was funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Arts Council. He has essays forthcoming from Flyway, Iowa State University, and The Pacific Review of Books, Victoria, B.C. He teaches in the Honors College, University of Utah, and edits and publishes Elik Press. Tully Cathey is an award winning guitarist, composer and music educator. As a professional guitarist, he has performed for the concert stage, theater and dance. He has composed extensively for KUED, the University of Utah's public television station, including scores for "AIDS: The Quiet Cost,""The Last Cowboys," "Shade of Gray," and many others. His orchestra work "Disposable City" was performed in Poland and the Ukraine in May, 2003, conducted by Robert Debbaut. He teaches in the College of Music, University of Utah. The event is free and open to the public. City Art is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Zoo, Arts, and Parks, X-mission, and audience donations.
