City Art Presents Lara Candland and Michael Gills

            Poet Lara Candland and fiction writer Michael Gills will read from her work on Wednesday, March 8th at the Salt Lake City Public Library at 7:00 P.M. as part of the City Art Reading Series. 
 
Michael Gills is author of three collections of short fiction, including The House Across From the Deaf School (Texas Review Press, fall 2016), two novels, including Emergency Instructions (Raw Dog Screaming Press 2017), and White Indians, a visionary memoir, part two of which is forthcoming.  He is Associate Professor/Lecturer of Writing for the Honors College at the University of Utah.  Gills’ collected papers are archived at  Martha Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
 

Lara Candland is the author of the poetry collections Alburnum of the Green and Living Tree (BlazeVox 2010) and the forthcoming The Lapidary's Nosegay (The Center for Literary Publishing at Colorado State University, January 2018). Candland is also an award-winning playwright and librettist whose work appears on many recordings and CD's with the Seattle Experimental Opera and the duo Lalage.
 
Most featured readings are followed by an open reading. City Art is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Catalyst, the Salt Lake City Public Library, Xmission, and the Zoo, Arts, and Park Fund.
