Poet Lisa Bickmore will read from her poems, and Cellist Nicole Jackson will perform at the Salt Lake Public Library Main Branch at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 3rd as part of the City Art Reading Series. Lisa Bickmore's work has appeared in Mudfish, Quarterly West, Hunger Mountain Review, Tar River Poetry, Caketrain, and elsewhere. Her first book, Haste, was published by Signature Books. She teaches writing at Salt Lake Community College. Nicole Jackson has won awards as a soloist in the Music Teachers National Association and Rostropovich International competitions. She has performed across Europe and the US. She has served on the faculty at Waterford School, Brigham Young University and Weber State University and currently teaches privately. She has performed as Principal Cello with Ballet West and has performed with the Utah Symphony. Jackson has performed on dozens of recordings including Brahms with the Escalante Trio, Film da Fronteira with Zone Azul, Sisters at Play with Claudine Bigelow, Mood Swings with David Stoker, Wings of Song with Jenny Oaks, and Sketches with Kurt Bestor. The event is free and open to the public. City Art is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Zoo, Arts, and Parks, X-mission, and audience donations. The featured reading will be followed by an open reading.
