PoetsLance Newman and Ashley Seitz Kramer will read from their work on Wednesday, December13thth at 7:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Public Library as part ofthe City Art Reading Series and the Utah Humanities Book Festival. This eventis free and open to the public.
Lance Newman’s poems have appeared in print and web magazines publishedin Australia, Canada, the U.K., and the U.S., including 1913, BlazeVox, Fringe, Moria,NoTell Motel, nthposition, otoliths, Pemmican, Perigee, Stride, WestWind Review, and Zyzzyva. His two chapbooks, Come Kanab (Dusi-e/chaps Kollectiv,2007) and 3by3by3 (Beardof Bees, 2010), are freely available on the web. He also curates theblogzine 3by3by3, a poetic experiment inhuman/machine collaboration.
Ashley Seitz Kramer, originally from Ohio, earned her MFA fromthe Vermont College of Fine Arts, and has won the Ruth Stone Prize,the Schiff Prize, the Utah Writers’ Contest, and the Zone 3 Press First BookAward. Her book, Museum of Distance, was published in 2015 andwas a finalist for the Utah Book Award. Her poetry and prose are widelypublished in print and online, and she is currently at work on a second book ofpoems, entitled Haptikos. When she is not writing, she wears manyprofessional hats: she teaches college writing (and has done so for over twelveyears), serves as an assistant dean at Westminster College, and she’s athird-year doctoral student in Education, Culture, and Society at theUniversity of Utah, where she focuses on critical race feminism, queertheory, and anti-oppressive pedagogies and practices.
Mostfeatured readings are followed by an open reading.
Theevent is free and open to the public. City Art is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake City ArtsCouncil, Zoo, Arts, and Parks, X-mission, and audience donations.
