This year will include three productions including the legendary BFC Cabaret, the Cavacade of Youth, and the NYC debut of "From the Gutter to the Glitter." Bindlestiff Family Cirkus Cabaret The BFC Cabaret brings together elements of circus, sideshow, vaudeville, burlesque, and cabaret to provide a stage for some of the most talented performing artists in the world. Jugglers, clowns, acrobats, and trapeze artists share the stage with musicians, magicians, dancers, daredevils, and more. Each show features a unique combination of acts, and all promise a legendary lineup of circus feats, sideshow marvels, and world-class entertainers. The New York Times said of the BFC Cabaret, "It's old-fashioned variety entertainment of the sort Ed Sullivan so astutely scooped up, but with twists."
From the Gutter to the Glitter: A Night out with the Bindlestiffs
This three-performer production features Bindlestiff Family Cirkus co-stars and founders, Keith Nelson and Stephanie Monseu (Mr. Pennygaff and Ringmistress Philomena), along with the live piano accompaniment of Peter Bufano, former Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus clown. The show takes the audience on an intimate tour of American entertainment. Paying homage to the evolution of live performance in America, from the variety stages of the 1860s, to the Rat Pack-era lounges of the 1950s, to the razzle-dazzle circus spectacles of today, the show is a non-stop display of variety art. This new production features novelty songs, well choreagraphed routines, and a display of musical comedy and its roots in "illegitamate theater"—variety houses and burlesque. Cavalcade of Youth The performers of tomorrow steal the stage today! With the Cavalcade of Youth, the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus presents a special showcase of young variety performers, ranging from amateurs to world-class professionals. Juvenile jugglers, diminutive dancers, adolescent acrobats and a host of other moppets and mummers present a full show of vernal vaudeville. Acts range from debuting amateurs to world-class champion performers--all under the age of 21. More details coming soon!! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Bindlestiff Family Cirkus On Tour Bindlestiff Family Cirkus plans to tour "From the Gutter to the Glitter: A Night out with the Bindlestiffs" in the spring and summer of 2005.
